Fact 01
The Bible Was Written Over 1,500 Years

The Bible was written by approximately 40 different authors over a span of roughly 1,500 years — from around 1400 BC to 100 AD. These authors came from vastly different backgrounds: kings and shepherds, fishermen and doctors, priests and prisoners. Yet despite the centuries between them, the message of God's love and redemption runs consistently through every single book. That kind of unity across time and culture is nothing short of miraculous.

✝️ "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16
Fact 02
The Shortest Verse Is Only Two Words

You have probably heard that John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible — "Jesus wept." But do you know WHY Jesus wept? He was standing at the tomb of His dear friend Lazarus. Even knowing He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead, Jesus wept with those who were mourning. Those two words tell us everything about the heart of our Savior — that He feels our pain, He enters our grief, and He is moved by our tears.

✝️ "Jesus wept." — John 11:35
Fact 03
Methuselah Lived to Be 969 Years Old

Methuselah holds the record as the oldest person in the Bible — and in all of recorded history — living to the remarkable age of 969 years. He was the grandfather of Noah. What is even more fascinating is that according to the biblical timeline, Methuselah died the very same year as the Great Flood. Some scholars believe this is no coincidence — God in His mercy kept Methuselah alive, and only when his time came did the judgment fall.

✝️ "Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died." — Genesis 5:27
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
— Psalm 119:105
Fact 04
The Bible Has 66 Books — But Was Almost Different

The Protestant Bible contains 66 books — 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. The number 66 itself holds beautiful meaning: scholars have noted that Isaiah, the 23rd book of the Bible, has 66 chapters that mirror the structure of the entire Bible. The first 39 chapters mirror the Old Testament's themes of law and judgment, while the final 27 chapters mirror the New Testament's message of comfort, redemption, and grace.

✝️ "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." — Matthew 24:35
Fact 05
The Word "Fear Not" Appears 365 Times

Many Bible teachers have noted that the phrase "Fear not" — or "Do not be afraid" — appears approximately 365 times throughout Scripture. That is one reminder for every single day of the year. Whether this is an exact count or a beautiful approximation, the message is clear: God knew we would struggle with fear, and He made sure His Word addressed it over and over again. You are not meant to live in fear, beloved. You are covered.

✝️ "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God." — Isaiah 41:10

Fact 06
The Bible Was the First Book Ever Printed

When Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press around 1440, the very first book he chose to print was the Bible — known today as the Gutenberg Bible. Before that, every copy of Scripture had to be hand-copied by scribes, which took years of painstaking work. The printing press changed everything, making the Word of God accessible to ordinary people for the first time in history. God has always found ways to get His Word into the hands of His people.

✝️ "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." — Isaiah 40:8
Fact 07
There Are No Chapters or Verses in the Original Bible

The chapter and verse divisions we rely on today were not part of the original biblical texts. Chapters were added by Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury, around 1227 AD. Verses were added by Robert Estienne, a French printer, in 1551. These divisions were created purely for reference and navigation — they are incredibly useful tools, but they were never intended to divide God's Word into isolated sound bites. Context always matters when reading Scripture.

✝️ "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who correctly handles the word of truth." — 2 Timothy 2:15
Fact 08
Psalm 119 Is the Longest Chapter in the Bible

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the entire Bible, containing 176 verses. Every single verse — without exception — references the Word of God using one of eight Hebrew words: law, statutes, precepts, commands, decrees, word, ways, and promises. The psalmist's devotion to Scripture is total and absolute. Psalm 119 is essentially a love letter to God's Word, and reading it slowly and prayerfully will transform how you think about the Bible.

✝️ "How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word." — Psalm 119:9
Fact 09
The Bible Never Says the Forbidden Fruit Was an Apple

We have all seen the images — Eve reaching for a bright red apple in the Garden of Eden. But the Bible never actually says it was an apple. Genesis 3 simply calls it "the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden." The apple tradition likely came from a Latin translation called the Vulgate, where the word for "evil" (malum) is the same as the word for "apple." It is a beautiful reminder to always go back to the original text!

✝️ "She took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it." — Genesis 3:6
Fact 10
The Bible Is the Most Translated Book in History

The Bible has been translated into more than 3,500 languages and dialects — more than any other book in human history. Over 2,900 language groups still do not have a full Bible in their native tongue, which is why Bible translation organizations continue their work today. God's heart has always been for ALL nations, ALL peoples, and ALL languages to know His love. The Great Commission is still being fulfilled, one language at a time.

✝️ "Go and make disciples of all nations." — Matthew 28:19
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword."
— Hebrews 4:12
